CHAPTER 1
This spring, my mother and I moved because of housing issues. We moved from the east side where the sun rises to the north side, to a small area near a big forest, next to a strange house where a strange man lived. Everyone called him Uncle Ma.
Everyone was very nice and would give us some food or other things, but we rarely saw Uncle Ma go out.
Sitting in front of the window, I assembled my long-awaited telescope and covertly pointed the lens at Uncle Ma's house. I looked and looked around but couldn’t find Uncle Ma’s figure. I was about to give up when I saw him sitting on the edge of a bed in a dark room, a pair of feet beside him. I wanted to take a closer look when I noticed Uncle Ma staring at me. I was so frightened that I almost tipped the telescope over.
“Yaya! Come down and eat!”, came my mother's voice from downstairs. I ran down the stairs like the wind and sat at the dining table, happily waiting for the food to be served.
Mama's cooking is so good, no one would dare call themselves the best cook after her!
Looking at my mother with big bright round eyes, I said, “Mama, can I go out to play with Wawa later?”
“Yes, but be home before it gets dark.”
Alright! I’m going to explore Uncle Ma’s house and figure out his secret.
“Well? Did you hear me?” Mama asked, putting down the dishes and looking at me.
“Yes~”
Standing by my bed, I packed my backpack. Just as I was stepping out of the house, my mother called out to me and handed me a food box saying, “Here, take it to Wawa’s house. You can eat together. Don't come back too late!”
